Go Daddy Go!

Last year Scott determined that he was going to run The Woodlands Marathon this year...and he did! After running two marathons previously (and before kids, ie, when he was younger) he knew what to expect in terms of training and the actual race.

The course started at Market Street, followed Woodlands Parkway to Kuykendall, and them took Lake Woodlands back to Market Street. It was a 13 mile course, so he ran it twice. How awesome was it that it practically went right by our house?

The night before, we mapped out the timing for when we expected him to be running by our corner. I, along with J.J., Amanda and Casey Stuckey (friends visiting from Seattle) loaded up the kids (and the noisemakers) and headed on out to cheer him on at mile 9. The kids were banging on the snare drums, and many racers gave them a big thumbs up, so it seemed to give them a tiny lift at least. As Scott ran by, we all gave him some high fives and a banana and he ran off. After Scott passed by, we actually went back to the house for an hour or so to regroup, and then headed back out again to meet him at mile 22.

Scott did an awesome job. Though he did have trouble walking the next few days, what an accomplishment! I'm so glad the kids can witness at least one of their parents tackling hard goals like this...great job Daddy!!
