Disney Cruise Part 2

The two port days were definitely highlights for the family.  The first stop was Grand Cayman Islands.  (Ironically, Mimi and Papa had been there just two weeks prior for vacation.  What are the odds?)

Mikayla got to go to the turtle farm with Grandma and Grandpa.  The Stoltzfus family opted for a submarine ride.

 

The rest of our family booked an excursion to Stingray City, and then two snorkeling stops.  Scott had purchased snorkeling equipment for the boys a couple of months before the trip, and they practiced snorkeling at the local YMCA.  Somehow, however, the calm pool doesn't quite compare to the waves of the ocean.  While both of the boys definitely got in and saw the wonders of the coral reef first-hand, it was a bit rough going and they didn't last too long.  Stingray City, however, was very cool.  We all got to swim, touch, hold, and feed the stingrays, and TJ even gave one a big smooch!

Ironically, TJ missed a field trip with his class to the Houston Zoo while we were gone.  This week, they each have an assignment to research an animal, and create a habitat for it.  TJ is happy to research and present his first hand knowledge about stingrays!

The kids were treated to some coconut water from a street vendor on our way back to the ship.

The next day, we landed in Cozumel, Mexico.  The entire Schmucker clan decided to head for Paradise Beach, and paradise it was.  Only problem was that it was much too short since we had to be back at the boat by 4:00.  It really made me realize, once again, that my idea of the ultimate vacation is just chilaxin' at the beach.

 
Paradise Beach had a ton of activities, in addition to the sandy beach and beautiful pool.  There were huge inflatable jumping toys out in the water, kayaks, and a high jumping trampoline.  The boys participated in almost all of these activities, while Mikayla thoroughly enjoyed the pool.  "Mas agua. Pooh!" (pool) was a frequent phrase.  Mikayla wasn't allowed to swim in the pools on the ship since she is not potty trained, so this was a highlight for her for sure.  The boys had a lot of fun snorkeling in the clear pool water and taking pictures of themselves under the water as well.
