Luka's Flies Into His 8th Birthday

Dear sweet Luka, I say this every year but now I can't believe you are 8! I look back at pictures of you as a baby, and my how you have changed!  Yet, you had that same spunky little personality shining through from a very young age.  You continue to be sensitive, loud, a bit full of drama, and you love to make people laugh.  This is who makes you who you are and we will love and nurture your zest for life!

This year, you decided that you wanted a United party.  Dad brought the cups and napkins home from the plane (easy), and I pulled out the creative skills and had a ton of fun making your invitation. You chose to have a small party with just a few friends to mark the day.

The next day, it was a treat to have a family party too!  Mimi and Papa were here, and Norah and Macy came to (with their parents.)  It was a great day for playing outside and so we did!

Coincidentally, that week, there was a book fair and bike raffle at school.  You put a ticket in the bucket for the green bike, and it turns out Mimi did too, since she bought your diary with a lock on it from the book fair that you wanted so badly.  And...you WON a brand new shiny green BMX bike!! Wow!  I will never forget the smile on your face!  This was great news for us, because you actually really needed a new bike, but what you really wanted (and got) from your parents was a shiny red electric scooter.  What a lucky boy you are to have two brand new big toys for your birthday.

One last noteworthy comment...you have embarked on a bit of a long hair experiment.  While it is most certainly in your eyes a lot of the time, and we can't quite get the headband thing to work, it is certainly a handsome style for you.  And, you've had some fun with it!
