Treasure Hunt

On the last day of school I surprised the boys with a riddle/treasure hunt.  While they were primarily concerned with finding the next clue (and the prize), I can only hope they paid a little attention to the words as they went along:


(On the kitchen table during snack)

Hey guys what's up?
I wrote this note
To tell you you're awesome
Yep that's what I've wrote.
So follow this trail and you shall see
Another riddle
On a back tree.


(On a tree in the back yard)

Hey lookie bazookie
You made it here.
Looks like you learned
In school this year!
To read is one thing
To write is the next.
Where does one do this?
An upstairs desk?


(On the side of Luka's desk)

By golly by george
You came all this way
Looks like you boys
Are ready to play!
You think you're so smart?
Then prove it come on!
Your next little clue
Is on the front lawn!

You rode your bikes
Past this spot on most days.
You went off to school
You pedaled in haste.
You came back this way
By this spot you did dash.
On the way to the garage
By a hoop you would pass.

I'm up here I'm up here
A clue that's so high
I'm up here almost
As high as the sky!
Just keep working hard
And you will see
That anything's possible
Success is to be!
Don't ever give up

Your next clue is stuck in the

The best meals are made here
On this oven rack.
The best brains can't function
Without a good snack
A good snack is made
with protein and cheese
Where do we find those?
You'd better go see.

From this cold fridge
Lunches are made.
Smoothies and yogurts
Are also portrayed.
But what of the remnants
You bring home each day?
The trash is no good
For your daddy's pay.

You've made it this far
How far will you go?
Hard work is a must
For life's hilly road.
Follow this trail and you will see
What happens with
Tenacity.
This next clue is easy
It's not on a limb.
How 'bout  a cool
Refreshing swim?

Summer is here
It's easy to see.
Please do not slack
And sit in a tree.
Relax but remember
To work as you're able.
Don't dawdle! Find words
On the picnic table.

Memories we've made here,
Campfires have burned.
Think about
All of the skills that you've learned!
Your lives will take you far and wide
Stay true to yourselves
And don't let things slide!
This next clue's a stretch
But you shouldn't fret.
And make sure you always want what you get.
It's time to dig deep now
Fly like a lark
And go do some circles
At Clover park!

The end game is near
You're on the home stretch
The prize is awaiting
For you to go fetch.
Don't ever give up!

You're on a plateau
Just always remember

And get some good rest.
Go to where your parents nest.
You'll see your last clue at the base of their bed
