Grandma and Grandpa came down a day early to "learn the ropes." Most of it they already knew, of course, but it's always a bit different when the parents aren't around for some of the details. I had prepared a daily schedule of notes and events...some required and some optional. In the end, I think they did everything and more! Included was a trip to the zoo with Norah and her Kauffman grandparents (It sounds a bit crazy that both sets of Grandparents came in from Goshen. Can any other family boast that?) and a big festival at the YMCA after the soccer games on Saturday where they sure did come home with the loot. Sounds like it was fun time enjoyed by all.
A few themes that have been occurring, some for the first time in our absence:
-TJ learned to draw a star. There were several practice papers proving that he has mastered the art.
-TJ finally clicked on how to "pump" while swinging to maintain his speed. The kids are really enjoying the jungle gym in our yard this spring.
-TJ is totally coloring in the lines of very detailed pictures.
-TJ finally experimented with cutting his own hair. He currently has a big piece chopped out in front. Why is it always the bangs?? He later blamed it on Grandpa...
-TJ is in a growth spurt; one evening, he had 3 hot dogs!
-TJ is riding his bike over a ramp that Scott built.
-Luka dresses himself now, even shoes and socks. Yeah!
-Luka loves to copy me and all of my mannerisms. Hilarious!
-Luka still says "mine" this or that, as in "mine Jiffy."
We are so thankful for Grandparents (two sets) who are willing and able to take over once and a while for us for several days at a time!
