Summer is Here!

A few notes, events, and stories from the last couple of weeks, including a link to some cute video footage.

Don't miss this video!

The last day of school, TJ had a kindergarten celebration.  The video below includes some of the show that the kids put on.  They asked each child what they wanted to be when they grow up.  TJ response was "a pilot, and maybe an artist."  That is one for the book.  The picture below is of TJ and his teacher, Mrs. Greer.  He had a great year and loved his teacher and school in general, so he was somewhat sad to be leaving.

The next several pictures are of the cousins and Mimi and Papa, who helped out a bunch with the boys the first week of summer.  Norah and Macy got to join in the fun one day, and Andrea and Ally came as well.

Seriously, this is one of these pictures where we will look back at the boys outfits (and shoes) and laugh our heads off!

A dip in the pool was the only way to keep cool.  Mikayla is very careful in getting in and out of the pool.  She bites her little lip in concentration and maneuvers her hands around until she feels steady enough to swing her leg over.  Macy apparently tried to imitate Mikayla, but wasn't quite as successful, almost landing on her head.  She was required to stay seated the during the rest of pool time, needless to say, but she didn't really seem to mind all that much.

At lunchtime, all the older kids decided to have a picnic under the jungle gym.  Evidently, Luka and TJ decided to share the iShuffle, so I'm not quite sure what Ally and Norah found to talk about since the boys were clearly not sharing or being social.

There was some good down time.  Luka read Norrah several books, and then he decided to share the iShuffle.  Here, they were either listening to Pop Goes the Weasel or Foo Fighters, not sure which.

All of a sudden in the last month, Mikayla is a great eater.  This is in the video as well, but she decided to crawl up on the fire place to keep Macy company, and started to grab and eat all the food off of Macy's plate.  Considering each of them and their own usual eating habits, we didn't think it would hurt either one of them.  Plus, it was pretty funny!

Speaking of eating habits, Mikayla is full of surprises.  One day she eats only canteloupe for dinner, and the next day she won't even try it.  To my surprise, after unloading the grocery bags from the car,  Mikayla started "helping" put the groceries away.  (She loves to dig through any and all bags.)  However, as soon as she found the green onions, she was quickly sidetracked, and started to chew on the raw scallion.  And, she continued to eat it until it was gone, except for the little pieces that she had dropped around the house.  Yes, a raw onion.  This is the same girl who refuses all fresh strawberries and blueberries, (but will eat them frozen just fine.)

Last but not least, Mikayla wants to do everything that her big brothers do, including wearing their swim caps and goggles, and sunglasses too.
