About mid-June, Ang and Seth had an adult party (they still do occur once in a while!) so we had the opportunity to have the girls overnight. We weren't sure exactly how they would do, since it was actually their first time without mom there, but everything turned out fine. Norah had a plan for how everyone would sleep, and wiht a few extra hugs from Aunt Li, she finally settled down.
Macy and Mikayla spent a fair amount of time "in the kitchen" serving each other food. Fortunately, we didn't have any arguments over the shopping cart, now that I think about it.
Norah wanted to do her nails for the slumber party and brought a bunch of fun colors. I put a painting tarp down (boy was it needed) and the three older kids spent about and hour outside on the patio doing all their toes and all their fingers. I think each digit had at least 3 colors. Who said nail polish is just for girls?
We hit a church pool party, where Scott's band was the entertainment. They had a baby pool set up, and all the girls had a ball! It was a bit hard for me to juggle food for 5 kids while keeping an eye on the babies, but I called on a few friends for help and all was well.
Over Memorial Day weekend, we all headed to lake. On Sunday, Scott made a quick trip to Wichita for a wedding, and Ang came up with the girls. We hit the beach and the pool, and there was plenty of cousin time to be had.
Mikayla was full of poses, and was a very willing model. She was perfectly happy to stand and pose, and then every time said, "Mama, see! See!" after the picture was taken; like she totally gets that she will be rewarded with a picture if she stand there and patiently smiles when I say "cheese!"
The kids also had a good afternoon on the neighbors float that weekend, while Scott pulled them in the jet ski.
