Surgery...again.

Quick update - we met with Dr. Milewicz today, and he confirmed what we already knew.  His first question: "Was he a preemie?"  He said that it is really typically for babies born prematurely to never really fully develop the abdominal wall that holds in the intestines.  So, he was basically born with this condition, and it is just now weakened enough to come through.  It seems likely that it could happen on the other side, so they will check it as well while they are in there.  He'll basically "pinch off" or clamp the wall, to strengthen it; doesn't need mesh or anything like adults typically need.

We feel very fortunate that it worked out to schedule surgery prior to our departure to Indy.  AND, we can do it in the Woodlands, so we'll be headed to an out patient clinic next Tuesday morning.  We thought for sure we'd be driving downtown to the med center for an all day affair, so this works out great.
