Surgery Update

The surgery was a success, with no unexpected issues!  TJ did, however have a hernia on BOTH sides, which is typically the case in preemies...about 90%.  The other side just had not visibly appeared yet.  So, we are relieved that it was caught and we were able to take care of it so soon.

TJ woke up pretty well from the anesthesia, but he had a much more painful day than we had anticipated.  We were giving him Tylenol with codine every four hours, but he never seemed to get full relief.  He could barely move on the couch and often cried out in pain.  Any clothes seemed to bother his stitches, so he just laid naked on the couch with only his NaNa.  We had to carry him to the bathroom and that was painful for all of us.  Last night was long as well, but Scott slept next to him on the floor by the couch and was Super Daddy.  Thankfully, this morning, TJ actually got up and walked without really thinking about it (to get the remote) and seemed to do fine.  He had a big breakfast, and is now set to spend the day with Dad.  We are hopeful that he will feel good enough to go to school tomorrow.

On a side note, Scott taped a series of Looney Tunes cartoons on VHS about 20 years ago.  You know, Bugs Bunny, Tweety and Sylvester, Elmer Fudd...and the tape is in amazingly good condition.  I couldn't begin to count how many times the kids (and Scott) have watched those cartoons in the last 24 hours.  Some comic relief for everyone in times like these certainly never hurt, except when TJ laughed, it was really painful so then he started yelling at Scott to stop laughing everytime Scott laughed!  You can't win sometimes!
