We very much appreciated not having anywhere to go or having any company over Christmas. Scott was home for just over 24 hours, so we enjoyed a lot of family time.
On Christmas Eve, when Scott got home around noon, I was very ready and in need of a nap, so he took the kids on a bike ride and romp in the bayou. When they got back home, I was revived and they were filthy, so we threw them in the shower to get ready for the Christmas Eve service at our church.
The day before, TJ had asked, so when are we having salmon and broccoli again? So, for Christmas Eve dinner, just the four of us, we had salmon, steak, broccoli, etc and had a great little meal. As a tradition, the kids watched The Polar Express, and then we read Twas the Night Before Christmas. We left out cookies and milk for Santa, turned off the fireplace, and put out the letters the kids had written to Santa on Chilli's behalf earlier in the day.
Luka: Chilli wants a doggie toy and a bone to chew.
TJ: Chilli would like a blanket like TJ. Love, Chilli
The rest of the evening, Scott and I put on the Christmas music and started wrapping, since we had not yet wrapped one. We had special paper for the gifts just from Santa. We soon turned in to bed knowing the boys would be up bright and early.
The next morning, it took about 20 minutes to unwrap all the gifts, but the rest of the day was spent going back through the gifts and learning how to play with them. The house was filled with paper and toys and we just played all day long...except for the brief interlude when we ordered Chinese food for lunch. What a great end to the day before Daddy headed back to work!
