Arctic Freeze...?

The last few weeks, in the midst of Mikayla's arrival, we have been exposed to what the media around here have been calling the Arctic Blast, or the Arctic Freeze. (Brother!) While it indeed has been cold, it still doesn't compare to true northern winters, of course. But in our southern defense, our homes are not winterized, and are quite drafty with single paned windows, and it is difficult to keep the heat in. My retreat is our bedroom where the space heater keeps it a toasty 80 degrees all day long.

Nonetheless, the boys were thrilled when we were promised 1-3" of snow by the time they woke up in the morning. Schools were already closed, and the prospects for a fun snow day looked promising.

How unfortunate when we woke up to a yard of plants covered in sheets, but no snow at all! Well, not to dismay, boys can find a way to play on ice just as well. Not having winter coats, we bundles up in layers, including the new scarves that had just arrived from Aunt Stacy the day before. How timely!

They were very creative and figured out a way to have fun with the ice...who needs snow?? Additionally, some extra footage of a new indoor game that has occupied them for long periods of time while cooped up indoors.
