Summer Whimsey

Just sifting through iPhone photos and other random tidbits and came across some pictures I wanted to share.  As a group, these photos tell a good story about how we spend a lot of our summer days.

Clover Park is a favorite at least once a week.  On this occasion, Mikayla was more occupied with my can of water than anything else.  She would not give it up until the option to ride the high merry-go-round came up.  Nothing like drinking out of a can to feel like hot stuff.

We have made several trips to the library.  On this one, Mikayla got to put headphones on and play the computer games.  Come to find out later that the sound wasn't even working in her headphones the whole time.

One of the ways to beat the heat is to head to the mall.  The boys put on their roller shoes and Mikayla pushes the stroller.   We usually hit the lego store and also the merry-go-round.  Let me tell ya, Mikayla never wants to leave.  Girl likes to shop!

Unfortunately, Mikayla has taken to the DS.  One day, no lie, she turned it on, and got the game going all on her own.  Not sure I could even do that.  Third kid for sure!

Mikayla has rediscovered her Elmo backpack.  She wears it almost everywhere.  This time, we were going to the Y to pick up TJ from basketball camp.

 

Not surprisingly, our yard has become a favorite of the neighborhood kids.  Luka is taking a run on the zip line in this picture.  We often have several of the neighborhood kids in our yard between the hours of 5-7.  I think we need to review our umbrella policy.

Swimming is of course a favorite.  The boys swim daily at their Sunny Daze camp.  This time, we headed to the neighbor's house to cool off.  Mikayla insisted on wearing her floaties, which she has never worn before, but refused to once let go of me when we were in the water.  She also insisted on the goggles; notice her hair is completely dry.

TJ is still loving basketball and is playing through the Y this summer.  Boy, he sure does love to dribble to the right.  Overall though, showing a lot of interest and I'm just glad I can put Mikayla in the child watch during the games and not be out in the hot sun.

Face painting has become a favorite as well.  And now, not only do we still get to paint ugly scary monsters, but we also get to do cute little butterflies.

After the face painting, the boys joined their neighborhood friend for an afternoon of lemonade and cookie selling.  I'm not sure how many cookies and glasses of lemonade they sold to each other, but I do know that neither of my boys felt very good later on that night.  At one point, Luka ran home to tell me that he dropped the cookies on the ground, but he picked them up real quick and brushed them off, and asked me if he could still sell them?

Since TJ's triathlon debut last year, Luka has been talking about doing one this year.  So we loaded up at 6:30 on a Saturday morning and headed to the race.  They both did really well and were super excited to have finished.  TJ kept crying after the race that he needed to go to the hospital because his heart was burning so bad.  Also, turns out, that it seems that Luka cut a pretty big corner during the bike portion - (he drew a map to show us) perhaps that is why he came in 9th, even though he was misclassified as a 7-yr old.  Oops.

And last (and perhaps least) the remaining photos are what can happen when the kids do not do what they say they are going to do when using the iPad.  Kinda funny actually.  (And these are only a few of the 50ish that I found.)
