Stars and Stripes Forever...At the Lake, Of Course!

I know...all the lake pictures start to look the same.  But this time, there are certainly some cute ones.  The highlight this weekend was the parade that the community organized.  We really could not believe how many carts were in it...I think they said around 30?  The parade route went around the main circle twice, and then down to the beach and back, so it was kind of long, especially when it is 100 degrees.  Despite the heat, the carts were decorated, the flags were waving, the patriotic music was blaring, and the fake siren on the head float was obnoxious!

We did not have friends that came up for the weekend to stay, and it was nice to enjoy just some family time on the toys, with no hosting, and just hanging with the neighbors and truly relaxing.  Mikayla got to drive the boat, but then she was so tired, she fell asleep on the boat, so we put her in the shade and she kept on sleeping for over an hour, in her life jacket, once we docked.

Also in her life jacket, we were totally cracking up at her Annie performance.  The kids recently watched the movie Annie, and the song, "It's a Hard Knock Life" seemed to stick in everyone's heads. She is clearly making up some of the words, so maybe we need to play the song again!

And it wouldn't be a lake weekend without pool time!  We went to the pool on Friday, probably before a lot of people were there, so we were the only ones at the pool. TJ all of a sudden decided this year that instead of swimming, he needs to "work on his tan."  Not sure where that came from as neither Scott nor I ever do that.  Funny though!  The other kids were entertained with Peyton and Preston for a couple of hours, being creative with the chairs in the water. I just warned them that at some point, the man in the office might come tell us to stop; but until then, have fun!

 And of course, lake time!  This weekend, the neighbors with no kids put out a water mat, which we were more than happy to take advantage of.  Usually there were about 10 people on the mat at once...can't believe this time it was just us!
