The boys always seem to be up for trying something new. All we ask is that if they make a decision to play, they complete the season so as not to let their team down, who is counting on them. If they never want to participate in that particular activity again, that is totally fine.
With that said, TJ and Luka both really seemed to enjoy T-ball, as compared to our soccer experience. They were on the same team, had practices once a week, and games each Saturday. If nothing else, they definitely learned the basics of the game: Innings, taking your turn hitting and then in the field, throwing to first base, and running the bases are now concepts they seem to understand. There was a definite difference in how they played between their first and last games.
By the way, we are teaching the kids to bat left-handed. My dad did this with both Angie and me, and it seemed to serve us well. Why, you ask? Well, why not be one step closer to first base? Plus, there's nothing like a lefty to shake up the pitcher just a bit!
As luck would have it, Grandma and Grandpa were able to see two games, and Mimi and PaPa were able to see one. Not bad for a 7 game season!
A good motivator to continue playing is that each participant receives a trophy and a medal. Gone are the days when only 1st and 2nd place receive a trophy. It seems these days that you get a trophy just for signing up. Sigh. No wonder the current generation in the workforce expects immediate praise just for getting to work on time...even though their mom had to give them a wake-up call!
