While your birthday isn't for a few days yet, we celebrated with friends and family this past Saturday. Like your dad, you love music, and you requested a Rock-n-Roll party in your own backyard. That was music to your daddy's ears, no pun intended. The two of you immediately started getting the play list together, including your favorite bands like Foo Fighters, Queen, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.
In addition to music, I think your other hobby might be to bug your brother, (another thing you and your dad seem to share?) While we are working on the bragging, bugging, and constant and competition with Luka, you are also a very sweet brother who likes to include Luka in your activities. Just yesterday, you brought him a surprise from you class: a harmonica that someone in your class didn't want, because you wanted to be able to play "Deep in the Heart of Texas" with him.
On Thursday, you will be graduating from Kindergarten from the Spanish Schoolhouse. We have worked hard on your homework each week this year, and you are now reading short stories and seem to love to do math, including addition and subtraction so far. You can also write short sentences, and just this past week you brought home the sweetest letter that you had written for me in Centers.
Dear Mom, I love you because you give me hugs and kisses and give me prizes and you take me to school. That's why I like you. I love you Mom. From TJCurrently, one of your main jobs is to take out the compost. You do this very willingly every time you are asked. You brush your teeth, do your hair and get dressed in the morning (sometimes not so willingly.) You also do a wonderful job of picking up the playroom on your own, and you seem to take great pride in doing so.
You are your daddy's right-hand man. When Daddy is outside working on the sprinkler system, you are right there with him. You hand him tools and get to do a bit of drilling on your own. In fact, I'm pretty sure you know more about tools than Mommy does, at this point!
You love to ride your bike, especially on the dirt hills at Ridgeway Park. You love to swim as well, and you are now learning the backstroke and crawl stroke at the YMCA each Tuesday and Thursday. You are looking forward to the summer and swimming at the local pools, the only way to keep cool!
You are a very good eater. You eat almost anything that is put in front of you, and you eat a lot of it, almost never complaining. Your teachers say that you are the best eater in the class, and they can't believe how you eat all of your vegetables. You also love cake, and this time you had a birthday cake that matched the T-shirts that I made for you and your brother.
At night, you love to hear stories about "When I was a little girl," though Daddy is much better at these. You still ask for a hug and a kiss, but you think it is real funny to "wipe off my love" after receiving kisses.
You are very sweet to your cousin Norah and your little sister. You seem to take pride in taking care of them, and making sure they don't get hurt. You delight in their giggles and smiles, and you are a very helpful and thoughtful boy when you are around them. Last night, you put on Mikayla's diaper almost all by yourself!
So, back to the party...we had a dance floor in the garage, a jump house in the backyard, and a tatoo parlor in the driveway. (We decided that we couldn't really incorporate the other elements, sex and drugs, that typically accompany the life of a rock star.) The kids, however, mostly seemed to enjoy the jungle gym in the backyard built by your own dad's hands, for you and your brother. Your dad puts a lot of time and effort into providing fun things for you to do, and you are a very lucky boy! We handed out rock star sunglasses and glow sticks to your friends, who are becoming increasingly important to you.
TJ, I love you more than you can currently understand, and I look forward to your future smiles and cries, your challenges, dreams and accomplishments!
Here is your Rock Star sister:
