May Happenings

As the end of the school year wraps up, the days are getting longer, and the heat is starting to penetrate just a bit more each day, we find ourselves getting a bit more lax with the schedule and anticipating a bit of a break from routine mornings in just a few weeks.  It's hard to go to bed at "bedtime" since it is still so light out yet at 8:00, let alone 7:30.  We do try to enjoy the weather yet as much as we can, in the driveway, in the pool, wherever.   In these photos, Mikayla and Luka went all the way up and down the driveway about 5 times, and both kids seemed to thoroughly enjoy it.

This adorable little outfit comes from Great Aunt Rosie.  It was so fun to pull it out for the summer and fits Mikayla perfectly right now.  These pictures were actually taken on Mother's Day, so of course she had to be dressed up!  She is very serious looking in some of these because Scott had the jet-ski fired up in the driveway to make sure it was running ok.  I think she was making sure that it wasn't going to come after her or something.

We enjoyed TJs art exhibit at school, where he proudly stood next to his painting that won a medal at a local art show.  He also showed us some additional art work on display in the hallway.  It is always great to get into the school to get a flavor of what goes on behind those big glass doors that you send your child through each day...

And, while Mikayla still is not an avid walker, she is most definitely a climber, and she is so fast. One day I looked up to find her standing on top of the coffee table.  One of her favorite spots is on the fireplace.  She knows not to stand up, for the most part, and she is good about turning around and climbing down backwards, but on this day she discovered it was quite fun to cruise around the high-chair while on top of the fireplace.  I, on the other hand, was quite nervous!
