Surgery Update: Viewer Discretion Advised

The casts came off today. TJ was so ready! Neither Scott or I had ever had a cast, so none of us were quite sure what to expect. They used a saw to break the exterior layer of the cast, and then a scissors to cut through the remaining. Can't quite describe it though, so the video is the best description. (Make sure you have the volume on.)

Dr. Gerow said that everything looks normal and great! There is still swelling as expected, and he needs to wear only sandals for about a week and no socks. The white on his feet is just dead skin from the grafting that will fall off.

Afterwards, TJ went straight home and sat in the bath for almost an hour, thoroughly soaking it up! (All the gunk on his feet from the cast came off in the bath.) He was a bit wobbly at first when trying to walk, but is definitely getting around. We have to remember to be so careful around him though, because there is no cast to protect his tender little toes, and they do hurt when they get knocked!

For dinner, we asked TJ to choose any restaurant he wanted to eat at to help celebrate the day, and he chose "the pizza place where they cut it in squares."
