After donuts for breakfast (TJ informed me "it was a lucky morning") they had a ball on Sunday going downtown on the train, visiting Millenium Park, making dragons at the craft tent, watching street performers, playing in the fountains and eating ice cream. Also of special interest was an artist making wooden sculptures with chain saws. It's just so great that the kids can get exposed to the diversity of the city and all it has to offer!
Monday, they headed to the pool and showed MiMi and PaPa all their swimming tricks. Luka has really turned a corner and swimming seems to be much more natural for him all of a sudden. After riding scooters in the driveway, it was off to the library in their pajamas, accompanied by NaNa and Jiffy for a special evening story time. The kids thought that was a pretty big deal to go the library in their PJs!
Today, they took a trip to the zoo. The gorilllas and the sea lions (TJ called them dolphins) seemed to be a big hit. They each got to pick out a souvenir from the gift shop and thought that was pretty special.
Eating Ironman popsicles, which of course was too good to be true.
I think everyone, especially MiMi and PaPa are kinda pooped. Luka even fell asleep in the stroller at the zoo, and didn't wake up for several hours...a rare occurence, for sure.
Tomorrow we head back to Indy...we'll see what is in store for us there!
Additional note for Wednesday: Today, while I worked all day, MiMi kept the kids busy by walking out to breakfast, where TJ evidently scarfed down his pancakes so fast, MiMi had to tell him to slow down. (Like father like son?) Then, they went to a water park with fountains, and then to the library for nature show.
As we were packing up the kids, both of them were crying and kept saying that they didn't want to leave Chicago. TJ was determined - he actually got out of his carseat twice and practically ran back in the house in an attempt to stay. if only he could understand how not fun it is when MiMi and Papa are both working!
We're thrilled the kids and the grandparents had such a good time! We look forward to many more summer weeks spent at Camp Casa Gunden in Chicago.
